1. What type of battery does my Acumen Heart Rate Monitor use?

  • Most of current models use battery CR2032. Also, the battery type is written on the back cover of each watch.

2. I changed the battery in the watch. Now the watch is frozen. What should I do?

  • You could press and hold all buttons on your watch at the same time until the display goes blank. Then release to reset the circuitry. (This is how you perform the “Global Reset” on your watch.)

3. After putting on my chest belt, I didn’t get the heart rate reading immediately.

  • Putting a few drops of water between the rubber straps and your skin for best operation.

4. My Heart Rate Monitor failed to work after changing the battery.

  • Please check to see if the battery is in correct with positive sign (+) facing out. Also make sure that back cover for the Watch is placed with word “Acumen” showing at the top.

5. My heart rate monitor is giving an abnormal heart rate reading during exercise?

  • There are several reasons for an abnormal reading:
    • The contact between the skin and the electrodes of the transmitter is not strong. Improve contact by moistening the electrodes/skin before beginning your exercise. As you exercise, your body produces sweat which will help to ensure a good signal. Make sure that the elastic strap for your transmitter is not too loose. A secure strap will ensure good contact.
    • Scaring (chest scars) can also cause a poor signal. Adjust the transmitter into a position where the signal improves.
    • Wear and tear of your transmitter can also prevent good contact. You can purchase a new transmitter by giving us a call at 1-800-852-7823 or by sending an e-mail to customerservice@acumeninc.com.

6. I had the watch for 1 to 2 years and this is my second time changing the battery in the unit. How long shall the battery last?

  • Estimated battery life with normal use (1 hr / day, 7 days / week):
    • Lithium CR2050 battery – 2 years
    • Lithium CR2032 battery – 1.5 years
  • Over use of the backlight can also shorten the battery life.

7. How do I service my Acumen Heart Rate Monitor?

  • Should the product malfunction, please visit Contact Us at www.acumeninc.com for Customer Service. If the problem cannot be resolved, you will be asked to return the product to the factory for repair. (Under no circumstances should you attempt to open and repair the product. Should you do this, your warranty will be void.)

8. Can I swim with my Acumen Heart Rate Monitor?

  • All Acumen monitors can be used for swimming, water resistant up to 30 meters, do not operate the buttons of the watch while under water; not intended for diving.

9. How can I change the battery in my Heart Rate Monitor?

  • We recommend that you take the monitor to a local jewelry store in order to guarantee that it will maintain its water resistance. Improper battery replacement or service will void the warranty.

10. Care and Maintenance of your Acumen Heart Rate Monitor.

  • Wash the transmitter regularly after use with a damp soap cloth then dry carefully with a soft cloth after washing. Never store the transmitter wet; dry after exercise and store in a cool dry place.

11. What is the Warranty term?

  • All Acumen products are guaranteed to be free from defect in material or workmanship for 1 year from the date of purchase (with the exception of batteries and elastic chest strap). During this period, the product will be repaired or will be replaced at Acumen Inc. This warranty is effective only if the product is purchased and operated in the USA.

12. My unit has passed the 1 year limited warranty. What should I do?

13. My Heart Rate Monitor failed to work after changing the battery.

  • My unit is defective. How will I return the unit for warranty service?
    • E-mail customerservice@acumeninc.com or call 1-800-852-7823 to obtain a
      Merchandise Authorization Number (RMA#).
    • Enclose your name, address and phone number
    • Please enclose a copy of proof of purchase
    • A note explaining the reason for the return
    • Please enclose a check in the amount of $8.50 made out to Acumen Inc. (for return postage)
